Stone Wall Update

The Stone Wall Polar Blast

We’re going to need it to chill off the hottest snowshoe race around. We have snow, we have cold, we have the Stone Wall Course. Finally some normalcy.

Here’s what you need to know…
  • The race is Saturday February 4
  • Online Registration is open. We will provide warm foods. Knowing how many to feed is helpful.
  • Day of Registration is also available. $35.
  • At check in, you will have the option of choosing to do the 5K or 10K. I realize many of you are signed up for the 10K, the default for marathon participants. Remember that the 10K is available to do virtually.
  • If you are a walker - the 10K could take approximately 3 hours to complete. This is a long time in extreme cold. You know your limits.
  • The 10K is not really 10K. It is closer to 7 miles.
  • Race starts at 10:30AM. Registration opens at 9:00AM.
  • The course will be very well marked with directional arrows and pink pin flags.
  • Medical staff are scheduled to be on-site.
  • If you are a marathon participant, the ¼ zips will be there
  • Be sure to have fresh legs, you are going to need them.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.
DIRECTIONS: Take Rt.  I-81 to exit 39, which is the Mannsville Exit. Head East on County Route 90 to stop sign in Mannsville. Go through stop, and continue on East 90 for a total of 6 miles.  Look for orange "WINONA RACE'' signs at intersections.
LOANER SHOES: DION racing snowshoes available. Reserve by adding to your registration. We will run out if you do not reserve in advance.
REFRESHMENTS:  Good hearty post race foods
RACE DIRECTOR:  Matt Westerlund Email: snowshoerace@gmail.com
FACILITIES: Cold Porta-potties
AWARDS: Top 3 male and female awards for each race
SWAG: Register by 12/29 to receive The 2023 Beer glass
DISCLAIMER:
The Stone Wall 5K/10K Race follows a well-marked course that is true to the sport of snowshoe racing. The 5K course is designed so anyone can participate, regardless of your ability levels. The 10K course is a true test of endurance, and should be selected only after at least some level of snowshoe training and/or high fitness level.  Winter conditions are unpredictable!  You may encounter deep snow, bitterly cold temperatures, blizzard-like conditions, logs to jump, limbs to duck, wet conditions, water holes, downed trees, steep up and down hills, snowmobilers, skiers, and wild animals. It could be a bright, blue, clear winter day, or it could be something very different. Be prepared for anything. Regardless of weather, come to enjoy the day with fellow ‘shoers, in a beautiful forest.
The Stone Wall is more than just a race, it is an Experience.
