Winona Forest Recreational Association

_The Winona Forest Recreation Association (WFRA) maintains approximately 70 miles of trails in the Winona Forest and Jefferson County Forest Preserve. Both are located in the Tug Hill region of New York State. WFRA, which began as the Tug Hill Ski Club, has reorganized as the Winona Forest Recreation Association in order to include all user groups of the forest. WFRA membership consists of skiers, snowmobilers, atv riders, equestrians, mushers,snowshoers, bikers, hikers and many other outdoor sports enthusiasts. We're not just an ordinary club!

Mission Statement

The Winona Recreation Association has been organized to:

  • To promote healthy and safe outdoor recreational activities within the Winona Forest Recreation Area.
  • To Provide assistance and available resources to any authorized organization/club to hold a recreational activity within the Winona Forest Recreation Area.
  • To organize and conduct events that are in keeping with the promotion of outdoor recreational activities within the Winona Forest Recreation Area.
  • To coordinate resources to maintain the trail system to applicable standards for which the trails are intended.
  • To do any other act or thing incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof, but not for pecuniary profit or financial gain of its members, directors or officers.

Volunteer

We need your help! WFRA needs committee members, trail crew members and event volunteers.

PLEASE...volunteer your time, talent or even materials to help make this association flourish. We need people to join and take pride in an organization that provides recreation to thousands of people.
