A MESSAGE TO ATVer's
Remember machines must be registered, insured and helmets worn. All side by sides must be legally registered as an ATV. Speed limit on the forest trails is 25 mph. Ride with care and ride legal trail system only! Be aware of regulations for riding during hunting season. No riding on the trail system once the trails have been groomed for winter activities. Be courteous to others. Let’s not destroy what we have worked so hard to accomplish. The image we set forth & the public sees is what makes or breaks our efforts to have a legal usable ATV trail system. Be responsible and look to better the public view of the ATV community. Above all, ride safely! Enjoy the privelege we have earned to have and ride a great trail system. Sincerely, Dave Cronk, WFRA ATV Chairman

WFRA ATV 2006-2007 YEARLY REPORT Thanks to all for a very successful year. All in all a super first year for WFRA ATVers. 1. ACCOMPLISHMENTS a. ATV memberships have more than tripled... great job. b. Established ATV committee, with great response. c. Gold Spike bridge project, 100 percent completion. Excellent finished project. d. Able to get permission for ATV use from Town of Lorraine, on minimum service roads connecting to WFRA. e. Established new trails thanks to Scott Burto and Jefferson County Soil and Water, new multi-use trail in and signed from Brown Rd. to Brown Rd Extension. 2 new trails cut; brush-hogged and signed-off Brown Rd Extension on Jefferson County property to Cty Rte 90. f. With DEC truck trails and Jefferson County trails and Town of Lorraine trails, we now have approximately 35 miles of trail system for ATVing in Winona Forest (WF), a good combination of woodland trails and dirt roads. What a great success story this is. g. Received donations to trail system from individual members and from Waite Motor Sales, Adams Center, New York. Great job! Thanks to all who contributed. h. Waiting for final approval from Jefferson County legislators, looks very favorable to open sections of County Rte 90 to complete the loops for ATV traffic. Had a county ATV meeting at CCC camp with about 20 interested parties going on a trail ride tour. All were impressed and favorable. Will advise when county opens Cty Rte 90 sections. 2. 2008 GOALS a. Build membership. Membership means money to continue to grow and an increased work force. Tell your fellow riders of our success and get them to join, so we can continue the success story for “08. b. Town of Boylston: Do whatever it takes to get Town of Boylston on board for ATV-ing. This will give WFRA the link to Oswego County and add more miles to our trail system. c. Work with DEC and others to obtain the new trail Psycopath and have it designated a multi-use trail for all to use including ATVers. d. WFRA has been asked and accepted to be the hub and ATV club responsible for the Worth lot on Jefferson County property, design and open an ATV trail system to get there and connect to our current system. Wow! We are really looking at great things and building up total miles for legal ATV riding. e. Have a fund raising event next summer, possibly a weight sled pull, a barbecue and a trail ride. Need ideas and comments for and against. We must plan to make some money and have fun at the same time. Please email ideas to atvs@winonaforest.com f. Continue to maintain and better our current system. The better we look and maintain, the better our chances to grow. g. Have a club ride and monthly meetings starting in March 08 for ATVers. h . Expand our current trail system on county property, i.e. get new trail established off Brown Rd Extension going west. This would be a woodland trail... expands and build additional trail system on county property.......from existing trail system......several possibilities are available. i. Continue monthly news letters and web site updates. j.Work diligently and co-operatively with DEC, Jefferson County Soil and Water, Town of Lorraine, Town of Boylston and Jefferson County ATV Clubs to build our ATV system for all to enjoy. The key to success is a multi-use trail system so there is benefit for all recreational users. k. Promote cooperation from all user groups. THANKS TO EVERY ONE FOR THEIR PATIENCE AND COOPERATION IN OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2007. HERE’S LOOKING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR 2008 FOR NOT ONLY ATVERS, BUT FOR ALL USER GROUPS. Sincerely, Dave Cronk WFRA ATV Chairman | ||
